Manager, Client Services
What makes you a Culturati?
Although I come from a traditional American background, I became interested in other languages and cultures at a young age. I attended a Spanish immersion school from first grade through high school graduation – at which point I knew that all I wanted to do was speak Spanish and meet people from all over the world. I have kept true to these aspirations in all my endeavors ever since, and my life has been significantly shaped by these underlying goals.
How did you discover your Culturati nature?
I discovered that I was a Culturati when I studied abroad in Asunción, Paraguay at age 16. I attended a Spanish-German immersion school with my Paraguayan host sister, which was filled with kids my age who were all from very unique and distinct cultures. I have many fun memories practicing my Spanish with the Paraguayans, learning words in the indigenous dialect from the Guaraní students, and laughing with the German Mennonite kids about my horrendous German accent!
What type of Culturati are you?
I am a Culturati “mutt.” My ethnic background is made up of a hodgepodge of European descents; I boast my Scottish blood and being a descendant of Rob Roy, my Irish background and family who were affected by the potato famine, my big German family on my mom’s side, and even a Lithuanian-Jewish side of my family who went through Ellis Island. I am a true American mutt, and wouldn’t have it any other way!
What makes you a strong Culturati Leader?
In my capacity as Assistant Manager of Client Services, I am responsible for “quality control” of research projects on the back-end – from RFP to research deliverable. My prior professional experience includes Project Management in the dot com and international exporting industries. During this time, my management and interpretation skills were challenged and refined in extremely fast-paced, “sink or swim” type work environments. This prior professional experience, combined with my studies abroad, allowed me to hit the ground running when joining the Culturati team. Since starting here, my rigorous attention to detail has ensured flawless project execution thereby maximizing the experience for the client team.
I graduated in 2007 from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo with a BA in Foreign Languages and a minor in International Relations. I spent time living and studying in both Cádiz, Spain and Asunción, Paraguay. I am originally from Eugene, OR and enjoy playing soccer, hiking, skiing and traveling in my free time.
